Our Story

When I saw you, I fell in love,
and you smiled, because you knew.
Shakespearre
Boxing Day 2014, Anika received a first message from Joaquin. Five thousand miles lay between us but what does distance matter when a spark flies across an ocean? We started knowing each other through letters, then calls and video. After six long months of virtual courtship, we met June 5th on Anika's 50th Birthday in Austin, TX. We fell in love and the rest is history... Since then, we've traveled the world, are building a home together and are living happily in St Albans in the UK.

Getting There
TRANSPORTATION
The Best Airports For Our Wedding Location:
From downtown Granada, the closest International Airport is 45 minutes away in Malaga, Spain.
Málaga Airport (AGP) – 97.8 km/ 60.8 miles.

There are great connections on flights with many airlines including American Airlines/Iberia.
The physically closest airport is Federico Garcia Lorca Airport (GRX). The distance from Federico Garcia Lorca Airport to Granada is 15.1 kilometers (9.4 miles).

If you are flying internationally from the US, we recommend you fly directly into Madrid . If you live in Austin, TX, it might be simplier to fly direct to London or Paris, and then connect straight to Malaga or to Madrid. From Malaga, take a short train ride. From Madrid, you can either rent a car and drive the 4 hours South to Granada or easier, take the highspeed Renfe Train which will take you to Granada in approximately 2.5 hours and will cost around 60 Euro's roudntrip when booked in advance. We suggest you arrive by Wednesday night.

ACCOMMODATION
There are many options available , from the more economical to the luxurious. Granada is a small city so none of the venues are too far away. Wherever you decide to stay, you will need to take a taxi up to the Parador for the wedding - there are plenty to find but count on at least thirty minutes to be safe. Albaicín is a recommended neighborhood in Granada that maintains the layout of Medieval Moorish narrow streets and is especially famous for its dramatic views overlooking the Alhambra palace.
